All You Chauvinistic Misogynists Out There...

Hey readers, I promised myself that I wouldn't use my blog as a soapbox, but something caught my attention tonight and it absolutely pissed me off. So here's the scene, I'm sitting in my dorm room, doing Latin homework when one of my roommates shoves her laptop at me and tells me to read an article. I read this article titled "50 Ways To Be the Perfect College Girlfriend" and I have never read a more misogynistic, boorish, underdeveloped, Cro-Magnon article in my life.

A Writer's Power

Hi readers, today I meant to write up an explanation for my lyric, Footprints, that I posted on Tuesday. I was in the middle of writing out how writing can be powerful when concise when a headline on Yahoo! news caught my eye. It was about the four men who had raped a woman on a bus in India and left her for dead on the street. I had heard about this event for awhile, but I had always discounted it and just shook my head in disgust. But upon reading the article that the four men accused of gang rape were sentenced to death, I felt awful for not having paid more attention. It is really easy for someone who lives in a country like the United States to be blissfully unaware of the brutalities and hardships that face others in less fortunate countries. So today, I wanted to talk about the power that everyone has: their voice.

Sorry I haven't been updating as regularly as I should! I'm going back to college this weekend (bye summer!) and things have been pretty hectic! I'll be better, I promise! Also, I'll be updating Evanescence only sporadically, since I'm not done yet, but I hope you all like what I've posted so far! Have a great summer! Mine is ending :(

In Case of Any Confusion...

Hey guys, I'm not sure if anyone is confused or not, but here's a little note on the layout of things: For the next week or so, I'll be posting up snippets from one of my prose pieces. However, given the layout of blogger and my general incompetence, I wasn't sure how to post continuations without making a new post. Making a new post would push the old post down and I didn't think that having people read backwards would be any fun. So what I decided to do is post all updates under the original post by updating the August 16th post. Hope this clears up any confusion and hope you all like Evanescence! :)

Beginning Words...

Creatrix Verbum is Latin and translates to "Creative Word". This blog is titled "Black Ink on White Paper" and this is a nod to my late high school English teacher, Mr. Michael Doran. He would always use this phrase to describe books, saying that the books contain more than just black ink on white paper. There is a whole world of meaning and allegory that is visible only if you open your mind to truly see. I created this blog as a way to let others see the world from this perspective. I will post snippets of my own stories as well as poetry that speaks about family and many issues that society ignores today.
